Leading with Energy: Ketty Minissale
May 26, 2025
In conversation with Ketty Minissale – Co-Founder of The Energy Lab
Speed, productivity and hustle are often glorified, but Ketty offers a unique counter-narrative: true performance begins within. From a childhood in Southern Italy to a corporate career in the automotive industry, Ketty’s path has been truly extraordinary. In fact, it was precisely her journey—rooted in curiosity, resilience, and a relentless drive for meaning—that led her to co-found The Energy Lab, a platform dedicated to helping high performers reconnect with their most vital resource: their own well-being.
Today, Ketty works with entrepreneurs, CEOs and leadership teams around the globe, guiding them toward personal transformation and purposeful leadership, powered by a high level of energy that is sustained. Her holistic approach—integrating movement, nutrition, and mindfulness—empowers individuals to thrive in all aspects of life. Through personalized coaching, transformative retreats, and corporate initiatives, she is redefining success with a breakthrough approach.
A Purpose-Driven Journey
Ketty works with high-performing individuals, enabling them to become the best version of themselves through a holistic approach to physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Her method is rooted in a “body-first” philosophy, with nutrition serving as the foundational entry point.
Although her professional origins were in the automotive industry, Ketty’s passion for health and lifestyle transformation eventually led her to pivot into purpose-driven work. What began as a personal development journey evolved into a full-fledged mission to help others live with vitality and intention.
Hailing from a modest family in Southern Italy, she was the first in her family to pursue higher education, move abroad, and challenge the traditional definitions of success. Ketty believes curiosity and open-mindedness have provided strong propulsion on her path of progress.
Together with her partner Markus Kneissl, she co-founded The Energy Lab, a project born out of a desire to blend movement, nutrition, and mindfulness in a way that meaningfully enhances people’s lives. Initially an experiment, the initiative quickly grew into a platform designed to elevate individuals—particularly leaders who impact others—to reconnect with their greatest asset: health.
The Turning Point
Ketty’s transition from a corporate career in sales and marketing to wellness and transformation was prompted by a deeply personal realization. While there were many small turning points, one moment in particular stands out. She was once asked to define what success meant to her. Until then, she had unconsciously adopted societal ideals—wealth, titles, achievements—as her defining markers for success. But as she began to reflect and write her own definition, she recognized a misalignment between her evolving values and her career.
That internal dissonance catalyzed her decision to change direction. She discovered that helping others improve their energy, find peace, and live in alignment brought her a sense of fulfillment that material success never had. In Ketty’s words, the game changed the moment she asked herself, “What does success mean to me?”
A New Definition of Success
Today, Ketty sees success as a state of alignment—where her time and energy are devoted to work that is meaningful and truly impactful. Success, for her, is the freedom to choose who she works with, when she works, and from where she works, all while contributing to the greater good.
It’s about more than personal gain. She sees her mission as helping others improve their lives, which in turn positively affects those around them. While material comfort still matters, true success lies in feeling energized and fulfilled by one’s daily actions and contributions.
Work, she believes, consumes a significant portion of our lives—so it’s vital that work is driven by joy, purpose, and clarity.
The Myth of Time Management
A recurring misconception Ketty encounters among high achievers is the belief that better time management will naturally lead to increased energy and performance. Many of her clients view time as their most critical resource, focusing on schedules, efficiency hacks, and productivity tools.
While time management certainly plays a role, Ketty argues that it is not the core issue. What’s often overlooked is the need to cultivate energy from within through consistent self-care and intentional health practices.
Another common misunderstanding is viewing energy as a purely spiritual or abstract concept. Ketty reframes energy in biological terms, emphasizing its roots in the body and cellular systems. For her clients, the shift begins when they realize that the quality of their energy, and therefore their performance, depends not on external scheduling, but on how well they recharge and care for their bodies.
What Sustainable Energy Really Means for Leaders
While most people may be obsessed with speed and output, The Energy Lab offers an alternative: sustainable energy. But Ketty is quick to clarify what that really means. It’s not about solar panels, wind turbines or spiritual buzzwords. It’s about harnessing energy in a way that is maintainable over the long term—without depleting one’s health or relationships.
She defines sustainable energy as the ability to generate, maintain, and renew high-quality physical, mental, and emotional energy day after day, and year after year. This kind of energy doesn’t come from hacks or hustle; it comes from intentional lifestyle practices.
The Energy Lab emphasizes three pillars:
- nutrition
- movement
- mindfulness
Ketty prefers the term “optimal performance” over “high performance,” noting that constantly operating at peak intensity may be unsustainable. Leaders need to understand when to push and when to pause, or they risk eventual burnout.
Food: The Foundation of All Energy
For Ketty, food is non-negotiable. It’s the first and most essential source of fuel—not just for physical function, but for mental and emotional clarity as well.
She explains that food influences everything from cellular energy production to neurotransmitter levels, inflammation, and brain function. Many people suffer from brain fog, low moods, and lack of focus, yet never connect these symptoms to what they’re eating. Blood sugar fluctuations, poor gut health, and nutrient imbalances all play a role.
What’s most concerning to Ketty is that mainstream conversations around food still revolve around weight, appearance, or basic health metrics, rarely touching on its deeper impact on the mind. She advocates for a more conscious, loving relationship with food—beyond performance to encompass self-respect and self-trust.
Beyond Nutrition: Rest and Movement as Energy Catalysts
While food is foundational, Ketty emphasizes that two additional pillars are just as vital: rest and movement.
Rest—particularly sleep—is often overlooked by high performers. Yet, despite all our modern advancements, humans still require sleep. It affects every single function in the body and mind. And it’s not just about sleep at night—intentional rest throughout the day is essential to recovery and long-term performance.
Movement is equally crucial. Humans are designed to move, but modern life has made sedentary habits the norm. Movement, Ketty explains, doesn’t drain energy—it creates it. On a cellular level, physical activity actually produces energy, making the body more resilient and the mind more focused.
Kinetic energy—the energy of motion—is what propels us forward. Sitting still doesn’t spark innovation or impact. Movement does.
Building High-Performance Lifestyles Without Extremes
A key challenge Ketty helps her clients overcome is avoiding the trap of extremes. Whether it’s obsessive dieting, overexercising, or unhealthy work patterns, these extremes disconnect people from their natural rhythms and needs.
Her approach begins with dismantling these extreme behaviors and guiding clients back to balance. This often involves rebuilding self-trust, creating small, sustainable routines, and fostering a deeper awareness of what they truly need, and not just what they crave or believe they “should” do.
Every plan is tailored. A two-hour morning routine might sound ideal, but for a busy entrepreneur, it’s impractical. Instead, Ketty encourages simple, actionable habits that align with a person’s real life.
She teaches clients to pause, reflect, and reconnect. Often, the solution isn’t more work or more food—it’s something as simple as drinking some water or stopping to rest. Her goal is to help each person come home to themselves and design a lifestyle that honors both their ambitions and their well-being.
The Power of Collaboration
Ketty’s work spans the globe, and much of it happens virtually. “Most of my coaching sessions take place online, with one-on-one weekly meetings,” she explains. “I stay connected with clients daily, offering support based on their needs and challenges.”
Beyond individual coaching, Ketty also partners with organizations to help reduce stress and boost collective energy within teams—efforts that create a broader and more lasting impact, from leadership down to every employee.
While Ketty may be a key figure in The Energy Lab, she emphasizes that it’s not a solo endeavor. “The heart of The Energy Lab is both Markus and me. We co-create and co-lead many wellness and holistic projects from corporate programs to special retreats,” she affirms. “For example, during the retreat I’m organizing in Sicily, we’re joined by an emotional intelligence coach and a professor in applied neuroscience. Depending on the project’s purpose, we bring in the right collaborators to build a stronger, integrated system.”
Leading from the Body
Ketty believes leadership must begin from within the body. “We often define leadership through intellect and behavior,” she notes, “but a leader is, first and foremost, a human being.” Managing stress, making sound decisions, and building healthy relationships are all influenced by a leader’s personal well-being. Many high performers reach a tipping point—mentally sharp but physically depleted—due to neglecting their own energy and health.
“By reconnecting with the body—through nutrition, movement, and emotional awareness—leaders can elevate their mental clarity and resilience,” she adds. It’s similar to training as an athlete: physical and emotional fitness are both crucial to high performance at work.
The Sicily Retreat: Restoring Energy and Purpose
Ketty’s upcoming retreat Equilibrio in Sicily is more than a break—it’s a reset.
Equilibrio — Wellness Retreat In Sicily To Recalibrate
“We start each day with movement. It’s not just yoga or stretching—it’s intentional practices to activate the body,” she explains. The experience includes short mindfulness sessions, daily workshops (focused on physical energy, emotional intelligence, neuroscience, and habit formation), and guided self-reflection. “Our goal isn’t just a temporary feeling of wellness. We want participants to take home real tools and sustainable strategies that they can continue using in their daily lives,” she clarifies. “It’s about long-lasting transformation, not just a momentary escape.”
Beyond Individuals: Energizing Teams
When working with companies, Ketty focuses on team-wide transformation. “One of the most powerful strategies is helping individuals understand themselves better—how they function best, and how they interact with others,” she explains. Often, team dynamics suffer not from skill gaps but from a lack of self-awareness and misaligned energies. “Everyone deserves a healthy work environment. When people know their strengths and how to engage constructively, it creates synergy,” she notes. “Energy is contagious. The right team culture can lift everyone, as long as each person understands and respects how they contribute to the whole.”
Rebuilding Trust in the Body
Many high performers lose touch with their bodies—often resulting in stress, burnout, or addiction. Ketty sees this loss of trust as a signal of internal disconnection. “We’re more connected to technology than to ourselves,” she insists. “Addictions—whether food, alcohol, or otherwise—often stem from unresolved internal issues and a lack of presence.” For Ketty, helping clients rebuild that trust means guiding them back to themselves through self-inquiry and embodiment practices. “Most people are disconnected from the now. My role is to help them return to the present and reconnect with their own truth.”
The Future of Energy Lab
Ketty imagines a future where success isn’t defined by output alone. “I hope The Energy Lab contributes to shaping leaders who embody well-being and responsibility—not just for themselves, but for those they lead,” she reflects. For real change to happen, leaders must model the behaviors they expect from others. “It’s like parenting—you can’t teach your children something you’re not practicing yourself. Leadership works the same way. If we want healthier companies and societies, we need leaders who walk the talk.”
Advice for the Ultra-Wealthy Focused on Longevity
When asked about advice for ultra-wealthy families and their pursuit of longevity, Ketty keeps it simple: “Do the work.” She emphasizes the importance of prioritizing inner work—physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. “It’s not selfish. The more grounded and well you are, the more impact you can have on others,” she remarks. Legacy, in her view, comes not just from financial wealth, but from the example one sets in caring for their own well-being and leading others toward the same. True wealth begins with well-being, which is vital for longevity.
Self-Love and Having the Courage to Ask for Help
Ketty offers a deeper reflection: “Many of us struggle because we lack self-love. That’s the root of so many challenges—burnout, addiction, unhealthy relationships.” She invites people to begin by reconnecting with themselves and believing in their own worth. “You can’t build anything sustainable without a strong foundation, and that foundation is self-respect,” she says. Ketty also acknowledges how hard it can be to ask for help. “It’s a painful truth—many people suffer in silence. It takes courage to say, ‘I need help.’ But awareness alone isn’t enough—you have to act on it. That’s when real transformation begins.”
At the core of Ketty’s work is a belief that leadership must begin with self-awareness and self-respect. Energy is not a finite resource to be managed, but a force to be cultivated, protected, and shared. Whether she’s coaching a CEO, leading a workshop, or designing a retreat, her mission remains the same: to create a ripple effect of vitality in a world that desperately needs more of it.
For those looking to lead effectively, Ketty emphasizes that doing the inner work, reconnecting with your body, and defining success on your own terms are all imperatives. Because when you are connected with your truth and lead from within, everything else changes for Good.
